Making Natural Body Scrub to Relieve Dry Skin - A Spa Treatment at Home

A relaxing and natural way to get rid of rough, flaky skin is to treat yourself to a salt scrub. Naturally occurring salts such as Sea Salt, Dead Sea Salt or Epsom Salts are beneficial to your skin by exfoliating dead skin cells.

It also have positive effect on your body due to its detoxifying and purifying properties. Epsom Salt, in particular, can also have an added benefit to sore muscles by drawing out acidic wastes from muscles and joints through the pores of the skin. Sea Salts and Dead Sea Salt are rich in minerals that exfoliate and purify your skin as well as being antiseptic.

Body Scrub treatment is usually offered in spas; however, few people can afford or let alone have the time to go to Spas. By making your own natural scrub, you can easily customize the ingredients, knowing for sure what goes into your skin. It is relatively easy and economical to make Natural Body Scrub using natural ingredients that you are familiar with. This recipe that I am sharing with you will make one application, but if you’d like to save time and make several application in one batch, simply double up or increase the quantity proportionally, and store in a tightly covered jar.

To make this Salt Scrub, you will need:

1/2 cup Fine Sea Salt, Dead Sea Salt or Epsom Salt

4 Tbsp Grapeseed Oil or Sunflower Oil

You can also substitute this with Vegetable Glycerin for longer shelf life

1/4 cup Baking Soda

5-6 Drops of your favorite essential oils

Some good essential oils to try are Lavender, Orange, Vetivert and Eucalyptus. These essential oils have detoxifying properties when combined together.

The next step is to mix all the ingredients in a glass or stainless steel bowl, making sure all salts are soaked in the oil or glycerin. Optionally, you can can add 20 ml of Green Tea Extract or. It has excellent antioxidant properties that will benefit your skin as well.

Standing in bath tub, wet hands and apply mixture using small circular motion, starting with feet and work upwards towards the neck. Then fill bath tub with warm water. It is a good idea to also add a few more drops of essential oils to the bath water. Relax for at least 15 minutes allowing the skin to absorb ingredients. By doing this treatment weekly, you are on your way to glowing skin!
