Model Laetitia Casta doesn’t look to the runway for fashion inspiration, preferring to do “her own thing”.
The French beauty has walked for the likes of lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret and starred in campaigns for Miu Miu, Pepe Jeans and Alberta Ferretti since first starting her career.
But despite her fashion credentials, Laetitia claims she has no interest in following trends when it comes to her personal style, and tends to feel more comfortable in classic silhouettes.
“I don’t follow what’s on the catwalk, I like to do my own thing,” she told Britain’s Marie Claire magazine. “But I love what Nina Ricci is doing and I think Riccardo Tisci is (hugely) talented. I couldn’t live without my Levi’s and I always wear a high waist. I like oversized men’s shirts by any classic Italian brand, too.”
When it comes to her own wardrobe, the 38-year-old adds that she has a few favourite shopping haunts. When in London, Laetitia likes to scour high street store H&M for the pieces which aren’t stocked in France, but when she’s in Paris, the long-time L’Oreal brand ambassador heads to vintage markets.
“In Paris, I like to visit the markets like Porte de Clignancourt Les Puces – it’s expensive but it has amazing furniture.”
The mother-of-three is also particular about her tastes in make-up and skincare, sharing that she prefers a “minimal” look and usually only wears a little mascara and lipstick most days. And though she doesn’t pay much attention to newcomers to the fashion world, Laetitia says that she’s fascinated by Dutch model Lara Stone, and even asked her to appear in her directorial debut En Moi (In Me), which premiered at the 2016 Cannes International Critics’ Week.
“Lara Stone is the only model I feel is interesting. She’s so beautiful and she has something fragile about her, too. I could always see she had huge potential, which is why I cast her in my first short film, En Moi. She knows what it is to create in front of the camera,” she smiled.
