Intro :
In 1976, owner and designer Monette Moati opened the doors of her upscale lingerie shop on Rue des Saints-Pères for the first time.
Just one month later, the French singing sensation Serge Gainsbourg stopped by to purchase a gift for then-partner Jane Birkin, an incident that allegedly inspired the song Les Dessous chics. But urban legend or not, the account speaks to the singular quality that has aided in Sabbia Rosa’s enduring popularity – glamour. With gorgeous silks and laces of practically every color combination imaginable, Moati aims to make women feel beautiful and comfortable.
Yet while it’s no surprise that the label has developed a near cult status online amongst fashionistas, in fact over half the customers are men doing exactly as Gainsbourg once did years ago. The vintage aesthetic transcends the designs themselves (think soft, cup-less bras and camisoles) to the shop’s emerald green-accented and bronze lamp-lit interior that evokes the dressing room of an Old Hollywood starlet. So step inside and appreciate the royal treatment – Moati and her staff consult privately with each customer to ensure the best fit and color.
